I absolutely adore this prosciutto-wrapped asparagus recipe because it transforms an often overlooked vegetable into something the whole family will love. Let's face it, plain steamed asparagus can be a bit... well, boring. But wrap those green spears in salty prosciutto, and suddenly you've got a bougie side dish on your hands!
I love serving these asparagus bundles as an elegant appetizer when hosting a dinner party or alongside my Smoked Whole Chicken, or Grilled Salmon for an easy side dish.

Why you'll love this recipe
- Quick and Easy: This is an easy recipe, it is ready in under 30 minutes and requires minimal prep work!
- Impressive Presentation: A beautiful and elegant dish using high-quality ingredients that looks as good as it tastes. Place the asparagus bundles on a pretty serving platter for a beautiful presentation.
- Versatile: Perfect as an appetizer, or side dish. You can also adjust the recipe to be dairy-free.
Ingredients
- Asparagus: Look for organic fresh asparagus stalks. I like the thin spears vs the thicker asparagus, but either will work. When choosing asparagus at the grocery store, you want to make sure each stalk is firm in texture and bright green in color. You also want to make sure the tips are firm and closed, and that the bottoms are not dry.
- Prosciutto: Thinly sliced prosciutto like prosciutto di parma.
- Spreadable Cheese: I use a dairy-free spreadable cashew cheese from Treeline, however, if you enjoy dairy you can use any soft cheese that you enjoy.
- Olive Oil: Look for a good quality organic extra virgin olive oil.
- Sea Salt
- Black Pepper
- Parmesan Cheese: The Parmesan cheese is optional, but a little sprinkling of good quality Parmesan is delicious.

Choose Thin Asparagus: Opt for thin asparagus spears as they cook more evenly and wrap nicely with the prosciutto. Thicker spears can be tough and take longer to cook.
FAQ
Yes, you can prepare the asparagus and wrap them with prosciutto a day in advance. Store them in the refrigerator and bake when ready to serve.
The asparagus is done when it is tender and easily pierced with a fork. The prosciutto should be crispy and golden brown.
I always recommend using high-quality ingredients. A good quality Prosciutto di Parma or prosciutto San Daniele will provide the best flavor. I'd also recommend purchasing thin slices of prosciutto as they will be easier to wrap around the asparagus.
