Where My Love For Wine Began

Since my first sip, I've always had an absolute love for good wine. It was in my early twenties that I was given the opportunity to travel to the South of France and Italy, where my love for good wine grew deeper., I remember someone telling me prior to traveling, "Just you wait... it's going to be easier to find good wine than it will be to find a bottle of water" -A statement that convinced me this would most assuredly be a trip to remember.

    Conventional Wine

Upon my return home, I continued to seek out wines similar to the ones I enjoyed in Europe. Things worked out well for a while, until I started to really clean up my diet. As I began to eliminate processed foods from my daily lifestyle, I found it harder and harder to enjoy the conventional wine that I had so enjoyed. My beloved wines began to sit differently with me. I found myself getting headaches; the wines tasted way too sweet (I personally do not enjoy sweet wines) and I began to feel really groggy the next day, even after only having only one glass. It was at that point I begrudgingly decided to do away drinking commercial wine altogether.

    Dry Farm Wines

A few years ago, I stumbled upon a social media post about a healthy wine called Dry Farm Wines. I fell in love with their mission: To source pure Natural Wines with fewer toxins, and made with respect for the planet. At that time I also started to learn more about biodynamic farming.

Also, I learned they have very high standards and source their wines from over 600 small family growers, all of whom make their wine by hand. Each wine is lab-tested for purity, to guarantee a sugar-free (0.15 grams of sugar per glass or less) which is far less sugar than what is found in conventional wines, and a lower alcohol content (12.5% or less) which helps minimize the negative effects that can be felt after drinking wine.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to sign up for their membership, as they have a 100% Happiness Promise stating that if you don't like a bottle they send you for any reason, they will either replace the bottle or provide a full refund, whichever you prefer. To date, I have yet to take them up regarding this offer, as I've loved 99% of the wines that are sent. The one or two bottles that I didn't LOVE were still enjoyed, nevertheless.

I was blown away when my first order arrived - I ordered three bottles of red wine and three bottles of white, and loved each sip within every bottle. I .. WAS ...HOOKED! And that wasn't even the best part! Not only did I love the wines, I also felt great knowing that the wine I was drinking was low sugar (keto wine), and had been lab-tested and was free of different additives.

    Did You Know

The FDA allows more than 70 additives for wine treatment and processing. While many are safe, natural, and have been used for hundreds of years, others are synthetic or chemically derived and can be toxic. Because they are not required to be listed on the label, consumers are not aware of which are included in the wine and what they may be ingesting.

    What Is Dry Farming

Dry farming refers to crop production without supplemental irrigation. Dry farmed crops rely on the moisture held in the soil from natural rainfall to meet their water requirements for growth.

For over 10,000 years of grape growing, dry farming was how grapes were grown. Irrigation practices for grape farming were only introduced to California in the 1970s.

Irrigation often encourages roots to stay near the surface where there is water. Their roots usually only grow 2-3 feet deep. Dry farming, on the other hand, encourages roots to dig deeper to search for their own water. Vines absorb much of their nutrients through bacteria in the soil, so the more surface area of soil they are exposed to, the more nutrients they can absorb. And the deeper the roots grow, the more diversity of soil microbes they reach.

Additional Benefits Of Choosing Dry Farm Wines:

    • The wines are sourced from growers who do not irrigate their vines. This saves about 16,000 gallons of water per acre annually. Plus, dry farmed vines growing without water become stronger and produce better, healthier fruit (yum!).
    • The organic wines come from healthy soils, which means no pesticides, herbicides, or other "-cides" are used in the vineyards.
    • Natural Wines are fully fermented, meaning wild natural yeast eat all the sugar. The result is a sugar-free wine (less than 0.15g per glass) making Dry Farm Wines both Paleo, low carb and Ketogenic diet friendly and are a great option for those looking to live a healthy lifestyle.
    • They are free of toxic additives, thickeners, dyes, and other synthetics.
    • Dry Farm Wines contain 75 ppm sulfites or less (conventional wines can have up to 350).

You can get started by visiting Dry Farm Wines website and either order a one time gift, or sign up for the Membership. Personally, I went straight to the membership as it is really flexible. Next, your box is curated and shipped directly to your door!

My membership currently includes the 6 bottle package, with 3 bottles or red wines and 3 bottles of white wines. For special occasions I also order the 3 bottle Sparkling package, and in the spring I like to stock up on the Rose package!
