This Adrenal Cocktail recipe is made with fresh squeezed orange juice, coconut water, collagen peptides, coconut milk and sea salt. It’s a refreshing drink that tastes like an orange creamsicle and helps support healthy adrenal gland function.
Adrenal Cocktail
Adrenal “cocktails” have become popular quite recently, though it is not entirely a cocktail in the alcoholic sense. An adrenal-cocktail is a mixture of key vitamins and minerals which are essential to maintaining a strong immune system.
I’ve been incorporating this adrenal cocktail recipe into my diet alongside a Raw Carrot Salad for the past 6 months, and I’ve found both to be beneficial in balancing my hormones and increasing energy levels.
What Are Adrenal Glands?
You may have heard the word “Adrenals” or adrenal health mentioned before; the reference is to the adrenal glands; located on top of both kidneys. The Adrenal glands are responsible for producing adrenaline, cortisol, and aldosterone and they play a critical role in cortisol production. Additionally, they assist in regulating many bodily functions such as metabolism, blood pressure and your body's stress response.
Adrenal Cocktail Benefits
Most of us are busier than ever! As such, our adrenal glands can become stressed or depleted throughout the day, and overtime this can lead to chronic stress. This drink is made using simple ingredients and is a great way to replace nutrients and mineral levels that the adrenals consume in times of stress. This beverage can also help to maintain cortisol levels and electrolyte levels in such instances.

Adrenal Cocktail Recipe Ingredients
- Orange Juice: Vitamin C is essential for proper adrenal function, and constant stress can deplete your levels of Vitamin C. For this recipe, you will want to use organic, fresh-squeezed orange juice (pulp free). I either squeeze my own, or get Evolution Cold Pressed Orange Juice. If you don't have orange juice, you can substitute with another citrus juice such a grapefruit is a great alternative.
- Coconut Water: Electrolyte balance is essential in overall health, and coconut water contains potassium and magnesium. You will want to use a pure coconut water like Harmless Harvest. Coconut water is also a good carbohydrate source.
- Coconut Milk: To help keep blood sugar levels balanced, you will want to incorporate healthy fats in this Adrenal cocktail recipe. I like using full fat coconut milk, but you could also use heavy cream, or full fat grass-fed or raw milk if you prefer it.
- Collagen Peptides: Adding a little protein in the form of collagen powder will also help keep blood sugar levels regulated. I love using Vital Proteins Collagen, as it dissolves easily - you won’t even know it’s there!
- Sea Salt: Utilizing a little Pink Himalayan Sea Salt contains trace minerals, and adding a little sea salt to your diet is an excellent way to help balance electrolytes as well. If you don't have Himalayan Sea Salt you can substitute with Celtic Sea Salt.
- Lime Juice: Fresh squeezed lime juice is not necessary, but it sure tastes great! You will want to squeeze the lime juice rather than using the one that comes in the bottle. It’s just not the same!
Instructions
- Combine the orange juice, coconut water, coconut milk, collagen peptides, sea salt and lime juice in a glass and use a hand frother or whisk to combine. If you enjoy your drinks chilled, you can also add some ice.
Tips & Tricks
- You can also put all the ingredients into a blender with some ice and blend to make an adrenal smoothie. If you don't have a blender you can also combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, then pour in a glass.
- Feel free to adjust the recipe to your liking. You can swap out coconut water, replace the coconut milk for coconut cream or half and half.
- For a night-cap, add in 2 ounces of tart cherry juice.
